Breast-conserving operations
Following the removal of a tumor the defect is closed by redistributing the tissue of the gland itself.
Tissue surrounding the breast is used to close the defect.
A surgical intervention on the other breast which allows to achieve an important result: both breasts look symmetrical and appealing after the surgery.
Reconstructive operations
A permanent implant or a section of the patient's own soft tissue is inserted in place of the removed mammary gland.
When performing the reconstruction an implant or a tissue expander is installed upon the pectoralis major muscle (prepectorally).
First, an expander is inserted - a temporary implant that allows to change volume and which is then replaced with a permanent implant or the patient's tissues.
The patient's own tissues are used to recover the the breast.
